Fixed-wing drone-based city-scale 3D-Model Data company Sistech (CEO Sungjin Park) announced on the 24th that it had completed a local Proof of Concept (PoC) for Kazakhstan's railways and highways with Bet-Sky from the 20th to the 22nd.
Sistech deployed its self-developed fixed-wing drone, K-Mapper, to the site to take photos of the Tankeris station near the capital Astana, along with 5km of surrounding railways and 4km of highways, and created a 3D model within a day to establish a 3D Model-based service.
During this period, the company showcased stable flight and photography technology in an environment with strong winds of 8m/s and guerrilla-like heavy rain, impressing local stakeholders.
Bet-Sky, a subsidiary of Barys E/T, is Kazakhstan's top company in the development of communication devices, UAVs, and GPS trackers, established in 2021. It is currently pursuing projects with Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ) and Kazakhstan Road Corporation.
Kazakhstan experiences significant damage to railway and highway facilities due to extreme cold of -40 degrees Celsius and heavy snowfall, and is particularly focused on preparing measures to prevent safety accidents like railway collapses and road flooding during the thawing season.
Sistech has honed its technology by enduring strong winds in the Daegwallyeong region of Gangwon-do and the Jindo Haenam region with its self-developed fixed-wing drones, conducting surveys on highland crop cultivation areas and pine wilt damage areas.
This PoC acknowledges Sistech's technology through the drone roadshow organized by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, held in Kazakhstan on April 2nd, and promises to pursue local technology verification based on the technologies and capabilities possessed by the two companies.
A representative from Kazakhstan Railways stated, "I thought it was impossible for drones to fly in such strong winds, but seeing them fly stably and quickly take photos over a wide area within 2 hours, I realize this technology is essential for monitoring Kazakhstan's long-distance railway and highway facilities."
Meanwhile, Sistech, Bet-Sky (CEO Abulkair), and NedSolution (CEO Jaekeun Song) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the 22nd for a 3D digital twin project and drone manufacturing and operation for long-distance railways, highways, and oil pipeline facilities. Through this, they plan to expand their business to the Central Asian region, starting with the Kazakhstan project.
